the importance of words
If we only serve people’s physical or emotional needs but never say anything about our hope in Jesus Christ as our Savior, the gospel becomes mere humanitarianism. If we never talk about where our love comes from, our deeds become just a “social gospel”. This will lead people to put their faith in the goodness of humanity, not in God.
the importance of deeds
On the other hand, if we think we can “share the gospel” in words but not act on it in our daily life, especially in relationships, then we’re not letting the gospel come to life. The words become lifeless. People will believe we follow a set of principles only, a religion like any other religion, not a living God.
the importance of god’s power & presence
While we may not perform the kind of miracles Jesus did, we do share the gospel in the power of the Holy Spirit. We can pray with and for people to experience the power of God in their lives. We can pray with them for healing, or any other felt needs that they have. This personal experience of the power and presence of God is what is convincing of the reality of God.
